Polyguard's Solvent Based Activator™ is a custom formulation designed to increase the tack of our rubberized bitumen membranes in cool weather.

Being that our compounds are blended with high quality rubber and asphalt, they are effected by temperatures below 55°F. Like other products containing rubber and/or asphalt (tires, roads) they harden as temperatures decline. Our patented compound formula is no different, and during cold seasons, tack decreases with the temperature.

Our solvent based activator simply 'softens' the compound making it tackier and allows contractors to apply the products down to 25°F (-4°C) in colder climates.

Solvent Based Activator™ is roller applied to the substrate (brush applied to the laps) and allowed to 'flash off', then the membrane can be installed per instructions. Solvent Based Activator™ stays tacky for hours, allowing contractors to apply the activator to the duct and piping substrate hours before the membrane is applied.

Solvent Based Activator™ is also used on the bottom of large ducts to advance the adhesion of our membranes to the substrate prior to pinning.

NOTE: SB ACTIVATOR WILL ATTACK SOME FOAM INSULATIONS

Solvent Based Activator™ are flammable! Vapors are harmful! Refer to the data sheet and MSDS for more information. If you are working in an environment that will not allow you to use a solvent based material, or you are using a substrate that a solvent based product will attack, Polyguard manufactures a water based adhesive for non-flam situations and foam insulations.
